A complicated situation that put her treatment at risk… the treatment she needed for her kidneys directly endangered her heart. With no real possibility of restoring the quality of life she deserved, her family made the most difficult decision… to let her go.

What made Venus a global phenomenon was its appearance.

Venus was adopted in September 2009, where her story began, after being found as a homeless cat in North Carolina, USA.
In August 2012, Venus was already 3 years old when a photograph of her posted on Reddit began to attract the attention of thousands of people. From that moment on, she rose to fame.
Fascination with her grew to the point where she had her own social media accounts and a YouTube channel. Her videos surpassed one million views on YouTube. She amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram and nearly a million "likes" on Facebook. She even appeared on some television programs in her country, becoming one of the first pet "celebrities" thanks to social media.
Behind the viral image was no character created for the internet. It was a cat who slept, played, lived with other animals… and had a family that accompanied her for almost her entire life.
Cats are very sensitive. Recently, she had lost her companion Roo, a 12-year-old cat, and just nine days later, Venus suffered a breakdown that led to her passing. Venus died surrounded by those who loved her, after 17 years.
