Film festival presents “Yaracuy en Cortos”

The festival presents 15 productions performed, in different genres, by different filmmakers from the region

The “Yaracuy en Cortos” film festival, which takes place in San Felipe, specifically in the Yaracuy movie theater, from April 1 to 3, exhibits 15 unpublished works, in the short film format, which are presented free of charge to all who wish to attend.

The state coordinator of the film platform of the Ministry of Culture in the entity and coordinator of the film exhibition, Freebird Martínez, reported this Monday that the initiative aims to show the cultural wealth and creative talent of the region.

He highlighted that the 15 audiovisual productions include, in addition to short films, several feature films, documentaries, video art and more, all of them made by prominent local audiovisual filmmakers.

“Yaracuy en Corto offers those who attend the screenings the opportunity to learn about the visual narrative culture that is developed in the state and the techniques that our producers use to bring to the stage different unique and innovative audiovisual proposals that address different stories and themes. All the productions, above all, highlight the regional identity,” Martínez said.

He highlighted that the exhibition seeks to show different aspects of Yaracuyan culture, while offering well-made cinematographic samples and high-quality technical montages for the delight of lovers of the seventh art. Likewise, the different themes addressed in film productions seek to raise awareness and provoke reflections in attendees.

In honor of Yaracuy

Likewise, he noted that the festival is a special tribute to the recently celebrated Yaracuy State Day.

“It is a special occasion to celebrate the history of our state and proudly showcase the best of what we do in the art of cinema. The plan is to honor our identity, enhance cinema and promote a sense of belonging and appreciation for our culture,” the official said.

Regarding the programming of the film exhibition, Martínez mentioned that several local short films were presented this Monday, on a day dedicated exclusively to local talent.

This Tuesday, productions are presented in honor of the mythical queen María Lionza, with short films that revolve around the culture and adoration that many have around this deity of Yaracuy.

On Wednesday the exhibition will be held with the support of the National Experimental University of Yaracuy (UNEY), an institution with which several filmmakers developed their film proposals and included them in the aforementioned exhibition.
