Amlo reminds Trump of the benefits of the T-Mec trade agreement

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, presented his message to the United States after his counterpart Donald Trump did so at the end of his first private meeting on his official visit to this country.
Trump, as expected, gave a message of praise to his guest and highlighted the relevance of North America in general, calling it the largest market in the world, Prensa Latina reported.

For his part, López Obrador was reciprocal in a message that focused on the scope of the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (T-MEC, in Spanish) that entered into force on the 1st of this month.

He said that the T-MEC was created as an option to produce employment and expand its commercial and productive borders without having to go far from our home states and nations to produce the volumes that our countries require for imports and exports that can be procured here with less cost.

It is not a question, he clarified, of closing ourselves to the world but of taking advantage of the neighborhood and applying good neighborhood policy and development cooperation.

He considered that the treaty is nourished by other investments as well and complies with the principles of high regional content while opening fair conditions of employment and remuneration for workers in the three countries.

This agreement means, he said, an important step in the integration of the three countries, it contributes productive capacity, technology, and skilled labor, and we end up complementing each other.

He presented Mexico as a valuable ally for integration, and clarified that 'by this I mean its young and creative workforce because the participation of workers is of equal importance in these agreements as the companies that comprise it, because if there is no Good workers are of little use to technologies and investments. '

With T-MEC, which is an agreement that respects the sovereignty of each one, we are choosing to march together into the future, and privilege understanding, put aside differences with dialogue and mutual respect, he said, adding that 'We have had disagreements and there are grievances that are not forgotten, but there are also cooperation and coexistence agreements. '

We have consolidated, he assured, the economic and commercial relations and a peculiar coexistence, sometimes distant and other times of close friends, marked by 38 million Mexicans living in the United States and XNUMX million Americans in Mexico.

In both countries, he said, Mexicans and Americans live and are part of society and have forged cultural and other ties, as in the best days of political relations, but what I consider most important is receiving mutual understanding and respect.

After those messages, in which there were no questions, the leaders and their delegations will hold a second round of talks and finally at night there will be a dinner where 11 Mexican businessmen are invited. López Obrador is scheduled to return to Mexico early tomorrow.

The Mexican president spoke in the garden of the White House before his host, after a private meeting of the presidents and another extended one, in which the two delegates joined.
