Russia and Türkiye discussed extension of food pact

This week the extension of the agreement for the export of grains for 120 more days was agreed

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation this Friday with his counterpart from Türkiye, Recep Erdogan, in which they discussed the extension of the food pact.

"During the negotiations, regional issues were discussed, especially relations between Turkey and Russia, and the development of the situation around the 'grain corridor'," Erdogan's presidential office reported, quoted by Sputnik.

It should be remembered that the extension of the agreement was agreed on Tuesday – signed last july – for the export of grains for 120 more days.

The agreement establishes the export of Ukrainian grain, through the Black Sea, and will leave from the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny.

In addition, Russia had signed an agreement, in which it offered to help the agricultural products, exported from Moscow, will be delivered to poor countries in Africa.

For this reason, the President of Türkiye thanked Russia's position and valued it constructively.

Erdogan, the office continued, stressed the importance of peace negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine.

He also stated that contacts between Russian and US intelligence leaders "played a key role in preventing uncontrolled escalation on the ground."

For its part, the Kremlin press service commented that Putin and Erdogan stressed the importance of fully and integrated compliance with all the clauses of the food pact.
