Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted on Tuesday that his country will prevail in the war it is waging against the United States, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan, Pezeshkian asserted, "I am certain that we will win. We are confident of this and reaffirm that we will stand firm."
Following the resumption of the exchange of attacks yesterday, the Iranian leader stated that if Washington returns to compliance with the obligations set forth in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, "we will act in the same way and comply with all these provisions."
"They cannot impose wrong or illegal actions or words on us, and we have come here to fight against this unilateralism," he emphasized.
He denounced the US for adopting unilateral measures while simultaneously speaking of democracy and respect for human rights. "They have no right to impose sanctions, violate international law, or act aggressively whenever they please. They have no legitimate right to take such measures. They have murdered our scientists, innocent schoolchildren, and our commanders," he emphasized.
Strategic relations between Tehran and Moscow
Pezeshkian thanked Putin for Russia's stance during the war, noting that "they have supported us at the UN and other international organizations. We greatly appreciate this and are deeply grateful to them."
He also indicated that the relations between Tehran and Moscow are strategic in nature and go "beyond normal relations," as he is certain that, thanks to these ties, they will be able to confront "American bias" and the unjustified sanctions imposed against the Persian nation.
For his part, the Russian president stated that the friendly relations between the two countries are developing steadily in all areas, respecting the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.
"As I have stated repeatedly, Russia fully stands in solidarity with the people of Iran," he declared. He also affirmed that they admire their courage and resilience in fighting for their national interests.
US and Iran exchange new wave of attacks
US forces launched an attack today against Hormozgan province in southern Iran, killing five people and wounding 68 others.
According to HispanTV, shrapnel from an attack in Washington hit a residential building where a wedding was being held in the city of Kuhestak, located in Sirik County.
The Hormozgan Red Crescent reported that the attack was "a US missile strike, shrapnel from which struck a residential building in Kuhestak where a wedding was taking place." Among the dead are a woman and a child, identified as Amir Ali Karimi.
This is in addition to the bombings against several points on the southern coasts of Iran, including some civilian sites, which Tehran described as "indiscriminate and desperate" attacks.
In response to Washington's attacks, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement an operation against White House targets in the region, claiming it shot down the 50th US MQ-9 drone.
"The brave fighters of the RGCI have begun a response that will make the aggressors regret it, and in the first action, they have shot down, using the new aerospace defense system, the 50th advanced MQ-9 drone of the aggressor United States Army," he stated.
He also warned that the US attacks have "further tightened the noose around the Strait of Hormuz," reinforcing the determination of Iranian fighters to "crush foreign forces" operating in the waterway.
