Iran reiterates to Jordan its right to self-defense

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi claims that Arab space was used for aggression

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi asserted to his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, his country's right to defend itself against any aggression.

In an Arabic post on his X Network account, reported by the Tasnim news agency, the Iranian foreign minister responded to comments from his Jordanian counterpart, who questioned the Persian country's attacks on several countries in the region just two hours after the start of the US offensive, arguing that it could not be interpreted as a response.

In this regard, Araqchi asked: “How long does the Jordanian Foreign Minister think Iran should wait before responding to an aggressor that does not respect the sovereignty of Arab states or the sovereignty of Iran?”

The Islamic Republic's foreign minister continued to inquire: "And does he (Safadi) really not know that Arab airspace, territory, and waters were used in the initial US attacks that resulted in the deaths of innocent Iranians?"

For his part, the spokesman for the Persian country's diplomatic portfolio, Esmaeil Baqaei, also in a message published in X, referred to a document presented by Qatar to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in which he emphasizes that Iran's defensive attacks were directed solely against US military bases in the region.

“The only exception cited by Qatar was the attack on a gas facility on March 18. However, we must also take into account that, at that time, that facility was serving the aggressive operations of the United States,” he stressed.
