Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi asserted that the “economic war” declared against his nation by US President Donald Trump will only lead to further defeats for his country.
“The so-called ‘Economic D-Day’ is a smokescreen for America’s own crisis: unprecedented debt and soaring interest costs. Doubling down on failed policies will only bring more defeats and the enmity of the Iranians,” the diplomat wrote in a statement posted on his social media accounts.
The diplomat went on to warn that “US economic terrorism threatens the global economy and sovereignty in the world.”
The text was accompanied by photographs of reports on the unprecedented growth of US debt, including headlines reporting that it reached the sum of 40 trillion dollars.
For his part, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated via his account on X that the economic war announced by the US will end up being its "next failure," after not obtaining results through military means.
“The military war didn’t work, so now they’ve called the next failure 'economic war',” the diplomat wrote.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf, warned that the US "seeks to plunder the resources of the Persian Gulf," and therefore the countries of the region must guarantee their security through unity.
He made his statement during a meeting with Iraqi President Nizar Amidi, which they held in Baghdad.
