We know, and we have applauded and wept at the sight of the countless people specialized in saving lives, pulling them from the rubble. The first to save lives on June 24th were Venezuelans because in our country, we don't wait for an order when it comes to the life of another person, and if it's a child, all the faster. That's what we're made of.
We are moved by those who arrive, imagining they are supported by their governments because ours is a thousand times more precarious, mired in the "orange" crisis. And we are even more moved to see our ordinary women (and men) serving, cooking, adding the delicious Venezuelan flavor to anime-style plates for this global contingent who, we believe, also expected no other order than that of their aching and compassionate hearts.
There are rescue moles all over the world, brave and dedicated to their rescue work, risking their own lives.
In Venezuela, we also have "Topos," and some of the bravest, because they live underground every day, hauling ore in the mines of El Callao and beyond. They know what it means to struggle for survival and to secure their resources.
A group of 60 came to La Guaira immediately without waiting for sponsorship. They know about landslides. Venezuelans take action. It's that simple.
These everyday "Moles" of El Callao saved about ten lives in 24 hours and also rescued the bodies of departed souls.
It is likely that, just as internationalist fighters are decorated, Venezuelan volunteers will also be decorated. That is what we believe and what we want. There are thousands, and indeed millions, who did not succumb to the attempt at chaos orchestrated by those who care nothing for earthquakes, bloodshed, or coups, only for money and power. Never was the word more aptly used than this Thursday by Delcy: “Miserable” (those there and those here, including journalists? by the masses).
They stayed and will remain fried.
