President Delcy Rodríguez approved financing on Monday for 104 condominiums in the Chacao municipality, one of the areas of Caracas most affected by the double earthquake of June 24.
The loans will allow for the renovation of 1.216 homes so families can safely return to their houses. The president toured Del Ávila Avenue on foot to inspect the work being done in that area of eastern Caracas. Delcy reported that the buildings temporarily designated as "red zones" are currently unoccupied for safety reasons, but it is expected that their residents will be able to return in the coming weeks thanks to the speed and thoroughness of the renovations.
Accompanying the president on the tour were the mayor of the Chacao municipality, Gustavo Duque (from the opposition), the head of the Venezuela Renace plan, Jacqueline Faria, and the Minister of Transportation and head of the Presidential Commission for Habitability, Francisco Garcés. “There cannot be any kind of difference that separates us when it comes to attending to our citizens who have been affected,” Delcy emphasized.
Agreement with the US under debate in the PSUV
President Delcy Rodríguez also met this Monday with the national leadership of the PSUV and the JPSUV to explain the scope of the recent oil exploitation agreement reached with the United States.
During the meeting, they also reviewed preparations for the Popular Consultation on October 18th, aimed at strengthening public opinion on local projects. The regular Monday meeting also included a review of the progress of the Venezuela Renace Plan for the reconstruction of areas affected by the recent earthquakes.
Details about the Maiquetía operations
We have previously informed you about the characteristics of operations at the temporary terminals in Maiquetía. Here are some additional details:
- Flights to Los Roques resume: the Litoral airport will once again have connectivity for the tourist archipelago, according to the airline. AeroCaribe confirmed flights starting tomorrow.
- Porlamar departure: Aeropostal reported that it will fly from Maiquetía to Santiago Mariño International Airport.
- Conviasa will offer flights from Maiquetía to La Fría, El Vigía, Canaima, Barquisimeto, Las Piedras (Falcón), Barinas, San Antonio del Táchira, Porlamar, Barcelona, Puerto Ordaz, among other destinations, and will also resume flights to Los Roques from the airport that serves the capital.
- Madrid-Caracas flights: Iberia announced that it will begin flying to and from Maiquetía on September 3, while Air Europa will begin this Tuesday.
- Many routes will continue to depart from or arrive at Valencia and Barcelona. It's worth noting that Maiquetía is expected to recover 80 percent of its total passenger volume by December.
