Movistar was the winner in the Speedtest® Awards by Ookla®, a world leader in network intelligence and connectivity, as the telecommunications company with the Best Mobile Network in Venezuela for the first half of 2026, consolidating its market leadership position and establishing itself as a benchmark in mobile browsing performance and experience in the country.
The operator achieved a score of 58,88 points in the Speedtest Connectivity Score indicator, the highest recorded in the Venezuelan market.
Antonio Valente Izzi, President and CEO of Telefónica Movistar in Venezuela, explains that this recognition is the result of an ongoing investment plan to modernize and strengthen the country's telecommunications infrastructure. “In December 2024, we began a technological upgrade process that has now resulted in more than 1.500 modernized stations and over 4 actions carried out across our network. This milestone is especially significant for us because it doesn't just focus on network speed; it evaluates its overall performance and the actual experience of our customers.”
Ookla awarded this prize after analyzing more than 28 million tests and measurements conducted between January and June 2026, using the Speedtest Connectivity Score, a methodology that combines network performance metrics, such as speed and latency, with real user experience indicators or Quality of Experience (QoE), such as browsing on high-demand platforms, including Google, Facebook, and YouTube, and key aspects of video playback (start time, continuity, and resolution quality).

According to the results provided by Ookla, in addition to obtaining the best overall score in the market, Movistar registered a year-on-year growth of over 25% in the speed component (Speed Score), reflecting a significant improvement in the technical capacity of its infrastructure and in the user experience.
This recognition adds to other indicators that support Movistar's positioning in the Venezuelan market, where the company ranks first in market share, top of mind, and brand power, according to various national and international studies.
