The Vice President for Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez, announced the construction of a stabilized wall with piles in the El Zigzag sector of Trunk Road 5, a road that connects the states of Táchira and Barinas.
The information was released during a visit by the National Commission appointed by President Delcy Rodríguez to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains in the Andean state. The commission also included the Minister of Housing and Habitat, Paola Posani, and the Minister of Transportation, Francisco Garcés.
Ramírez noted that this structural solution complements the ongoing work on Trunk Road 5, such as stabilizing the roadway and the edge failure. He also explained that technical teams are working in close coordination with regional authorities to provide solutions in the various affected areas.
For his part, Governor Freddy Bernal specified that the visit aims to coordinate the necessary actions to address the damage caused by the constant rains in more than six municipalities in the Tachira territory.
National authorities plan to conduct inspections in other areas impacted by the heavy rainfall recorded in the region during the past few weeks.
