The increase in rainfall and the rise in the flow of the Torbes River caused the total collapse of the road that connects the Brisas del Paraíso and Sabaneta sectors, on the old San Cristóbal-El Cucharo road, due to the undermining of the road surface.
This was reported by the director of Civil Protection Táchira, Yesnardo Canal, who highlighted that this section serves as an alternate route to Trunk Road 5, which connects Táchira and Barinas, so the relevant evaluations are being carried out to coordinate with the competent agencies and provide a prompt solution to the affected community.
He also noted that during the inspection of the area, a preventive evacuation of a house and a commercial premises was carried out in order to guarantee the safety of the families.
Finally, the preventive authority explained that during the tour, the risk of a main pipe of the Táchira Regional Aqueduct was evident, so links were established with the regional water company Hidrosuroeste to address the situation.
