First phase of rehabilitation completed on the San Cristóbal-El Mirador road

The work was inspected by the ministerial commission sent to address the rain emergencies.

The rehabilitation of the road in the Los Peluches sector of Trunk Road 1, which connects the capital of Tachira with the border municipalities, was carried out in its first stage by placing piles to address edge failures and landslides.

This was reported by the Minister of Transportation, Francisco Garcés, who indicated that a displacement of geological mass occurred at the site, which is being stabilized with the installation of structural elements to "improve and contain this significant movement," and that a new phase must be undertaken "to provide a positive response to the state of Táchira."

Garcés highlighted that during the inspections carried out by the ministerial commission in the areas impacted by the rains, damage to roads, public services and housing was observed, which is being addressed through joint work between national and regional entities.

For his part, Governor Freddy Bernal reiterated the authorities' commitment to addressing emergencies, assessing the impacts of the heavy rainfall, and providing effective solutions to restore road access.

Trunk Road 1 is one of the most important road corridors in the region, connecting San Cristóbal with the municipalities of the metropolitan area, and is the main exit to the border.
