The trio of Diego Oduber, Douglas Gómez Jr. and Rafael Ochoa won the bronze medal in the 10-meter air pistol team event in men's shooting sports, scoring 1.651 points.
Peru took gold with 1.677 points, while Colombia won silver with 1671 points. El Salvador finished fourth with 1.608 points.
"For me, this medal represents years of sacrifice, tears, laughter, and pain," said Diego Oduber after the competition. "I want to thank God first and foremost, my dad, who is up there in heaven watching me, my mom, and everyone who has supported me during this time."
In that sense, the group emphasized the effort behind the achievement. "It's a love-hate relationship, because otherwise we wouldn't be here... I feel very happy to wear this tricolor on my chest," added Rafael Ochoa.
"Whenever we had low points, we supported each other and that's what kept the team afloat," said Gomez Jr., also thanking those who have supported them throughout the process.
