Venezuela and South Korea drew 0-0 in the second friendly of the Asian tour, played this Friday in Ulsan. La Vinotinto They improved their game compared to what they did against Japan earlier in the week, but they lacked the finishing touch to break through the defense in the opposing penalty area.
The Venezuelan team generated little in attack during the first half, to the point that their only shot on target was a free kick by Cristian Cásseres Jr. that was deflected by goalkeeper Song Bum-keun. Adjustments to the plugin and tour closing
The script remained the same during the first few minutes of the second half; however, the Venezuelan approach changed favorably after two tactical variations: the entry of Wikelman Carmona —who gave the team more possession of the ball in the middle of the field— and the retreat of Kevin Kelsy to link up with the midfielders.
In this way, Venezuela generated more effective high pressure and forced errors in South Korea's build-up play. The two clearest chances of the match came after the 70-minute mark, with a powerful shot from Gleiker Mendoza that crashed against the crossbar and another shot from Teo Quintero that the home goalkeeper sent out for a corner.
Despite those brief spells of brilliance and pressure in the opponent's half, the national team lacked intensity and better space in the final stretch to secure the victory. Next up for Oswaldo Vizcarrondo's squad will be this coming Tuesday, when they conclude their Asian tour against Jordan.
