Aguilar has a free court in the Marlins' initial

When the Miami Marlins took over the services of Jesús Aguilar for last season, they expected the Venezuelan to be the same as 2018 when he went to the All-Star Game. And after the response of the slugger with the wood, the team knows that it needs to give greater prominence to the native of Maracay.

In the shortened 2020 season, Aguilar alternated with Garret Cooper at first base, even spending time as a designated hitter. However, with the non-renewal of DH for the National League, manager Don Mattingly decided to move Cooper to the outfield to clear the way for the Venezuelan as a starting first baseman.

In Spring Training, Cooper has kept hitting ground balls in the infield, but now he's been adjusting to the prairies as well. Similarly, it wouldn't be crazy for the two to alternate as defenders from first base, albeit less frequently than last year.

“We feel like we're going to get both at-bats, in a combination of outfield and first base. We want those two guys in the lineup as much as possible, ”the head honcho told MLB.com.
