Mincyt develops video game "Bicentennial Battles" for young people

They seek to foster young people's interest in the country's emancipatory history using free software and innovation

With the purpose of showing young people the true history of Venezuela's independence battles, the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (Mincyt) is developing the video game "Bicentennial Battles".

The video game, promoted by Telecom Venezuela CA and soon to be officially launched, seeks to foster young people's interest in the country's emancipatory history using free software and innovation through contemporary languages.

"Bicentennial Battles" stands out for its decolonizing approach: Through the mechanics of the game, it seeks to teach the true history of the independence battles of Venezuela, rescuing its own narratives and contributing to the formation of a critical historical consciousness in the participants.

It is a didactic and, at the same time, educational video game that combines entertainment with meaningful learning, allowing users to experience immersive events that marked the path to national independence.

With this initiative, Telecom Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to training national talent in strategic areas such as software development, video game design, and the production of digital content with its own identity.

Similarly, it aligns with the objectives of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mincyt) to promote open science, social innovation and the use of technologies for cultural transformation, as established by the National Program of Scientific Seedbeds, which since 2019 has trained more than one million children and young people throughout the national territory.

In this regard, Admiral Clemente Díaz, president of Telecom Venezuela, invites young people interested in video game development, programming, graphic design, interactive storytelling, and Venezuelan history to participate in this project by sending their ideas and contributions through the official channels of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mincyt).
