An approximate group of 80 officials from the Mayor's Office of the Cárdenas municipality, Engineers Battalion, Municipal Council, Community Councils and organized popular power gathered on the trans-Andean highway that was crammed with solid waste, generating sources of contamination to the environment and impossibility to travel through such an important road artery.
Richard González, mayor of the Cárdenas municipality, indicated that more than 150 tons of garbage have been removed, 6 trucks and a minishower used to clear the trans-Andean region. He also recognized the effort of all the staff, the community that participated in this noble work and "we are not done yet."
He also thanked the support provided to the protector of Táchira, Freddy Alirio Bernal Rosales, through Corpoandes, Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor and the entire human team of both institutions.
“It is important to keep this road clear as it communicates to the municipalities Cárdenas, Andrés Bello and San Cristóbal, therefore the call to conscience, to syndicate, to the entire community in general not to continue throwing solid waste on this road, because They are causing a source of pollution to the environment, health problems, annoyance to drivers who travel on this road, among others.
He stressed that the equipment and machinery remain in the trans-Andean region until they manage to clear it one hundred percent. All the inhabitants must help to keep these spaces clean, because it is a "work that we do with all the effort, with all these men and women, but there is co-responsibility to see our municipality as a little cup of gold."
