Dotemu introduces three new games to its lineup

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster, Wardens of Avalon and Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern

Dotemu continues its mission to be one of the most important developers in the video game industry, and each year they seem to advance further and further towards that goal, both in the creation of their own games and in helping to publish the games of other developers who need help to navigate the tide of such a complex industry.

This time we have three new titles that will join the Dotemu family, two published by them, and another that will be published by their division The Arcade Crew, which focuses more on action games and slightly more mature experiences than those of the Dotemu brand.

Let's begin with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster

The first title is Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster, developed by Old Skull Games, which gives us a glimpse into this enormous fantasy universe, but this time from the point of view of the Skaven, a race of humanoid rats that inhabit the deepest parts of the earth and are divided into factions, which wage war against each other in the most brutal way possible.

In Deathmaster, you take on the role of a young Skaven who, after being rescued from certain death, joins a new faction as an apprentice assassin. Success in this role will ultimately lead him to become the Deathmaster, the most dangerous of assassins. This journey unfolds in an action-adventure game with a strong emphasis on stealth as a key gameplay element.

Mechanically, the title is very similar to Mark of the NinjaThe game consists of several 2D screens through which the player must secretly navigate to reach and complete the level's main objective. These objectives range from stealing treasure to, of course, assassination. Everything happens from the shadows, because despite possessing numerous abilities for maneuvering in the dark, the main character is not particularly skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Of the three games presented, this one looks the most complete, and the presentation level is high, especially in its use of excellent vignettes that tell the story between levels.

Wardens of Avalon, the next ARPG from Dotemu

The second game Dotemu brings us, this one under their Arcade Crew division, is Wardens of Avalon, an ARPG developed by Runes Studio that combines the isometric view and gameplay of games like Diablo 2 and Path of Exile with survival elements more akin to something like Stardew Valley. This unique combination makes the title something special and worth trying if you enjoy any of these games.

Wardens of Avalon also draws heavily from the legend of King Arthur and puts us in the shoes of a knight belonging to the Knights of Twilight, the new order created to protect the world from the fallen Knights of the Round Table, who have gone from being heroes to villains in this fantasy world.

The game features an art direction that aligns with the conventions of the fantasy genre and gameplay that focuses on combat and exploring levels in order to find the different resources needed to rebuild the kingdom and transform it from a set of ruins into a true fortress worthy of being the successor to Camelot.

Wardens of Avalon is still in its early stages of development, but the project shows palpable potential to create something on par with No Rest for the Wicked. This will be possible especially if they manage to expand and further refine the survival and base-building elements, along with a combat system that is both fun and deep enough to keep players coming back for more.

Dungeon & Dragons will have a significant presence in video games

The final game in this Dotemu presentation is Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern, a title that falls into the so-called "cozy" genre, and which puts players in charge of a tavern in the universe of this famous tabletop role-playing game. Of course, the fact that the tavern is located in this universe means much more than just serving drinks to its patrons.

The game features a fairly simple gameplay loop: the player upgrades the tavern to make it a meeting place for the world's inhabitants, including adventurers, sorcerers, heroes, and villains. After serving them and ensuring their satisfaction, the player can hire them to complete quests that reward better ingredients, allowing for further improvements to the establishment and the provision of superior service.

Much more than management

Long Rest Tavern features not only a management system for serving food and drinks to customers, but also a food and drink crafting system, as well as a separate management system for the adventurers hired to acquire the ingredients needed for high-level recipes. You can't make dragon eye soup without a dragon eye.

Long Rest Tavern also shows a lot of work to be done, but the demo we were shown demonstrates the pure gameplay cycle, resulting in something enjoyable and very addictive in which you'll surely spend many hours improving your tavern, from the menu to its hallways and lounges.

Dotemu continues to be one of the most creative forces in the indie scene, and these three new titles are proof of that. We'll be keeping an eye on every new piece of news about them until we see them released so we can enjoy them to the fullest.
