Two tankers exploded and caught fire in a mined area of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported.
"A few hours ago, two oil tankers, deceived by US spy organizations, attempted to cross a mined area south of the Strait of Hormuz, exploded and caught fire," the statement reads, in which the IRGC warns that it will not be possible to export fertilizers, gas, or even a single drop of oil from the region until the end of US aggression.
Shortly before that information was released, explosions were heard on Friday night in several provinces of Iran after the United States Central Command announced the launch of a new round of attacks against Iran, Iranian media reported.
The semi-official Mehr news agency reported explosions in Bushehr province, as well as in the Sirik and Qeshm districts of Hormozgan province, but it is still unknown what the targets were and whether there were any casualties or damage.
Meanwhile, the IRNA news agency reported that five explosions were heard in Yazd province, in central Iran.
The Central Command posted on social media last night that it launched a new wave of attacks against Iran for the seventh consecutive night and added that the attacks "seek to further weaken Iranian military capabilities."
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement that its forces attacked a depot housing US unmanned surface vessels in Bahrain that day, destroying several of them.
