The National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) is closely monitoring the repair work on the submarine cable operated by Cirion Technologies, which has made significant progress in restoring service following the seismic events. The coordinated efforts between the regulatory body, the Venezuelan government, relevant authorities, and the private sector enabled the successful completion of the reconnection at the southern end of the cable offshore.
The procedure, carried out from the specialized vessel Wave Sentinel, employed laser technology to align and join fiber optic strands under strict micrometric parameters. Simultaneously, the technical staff retrieved and brought aboard the northern end of the structure, preparing it to immediately begin the next stage of splicing on the vessel.
A thorough inspection of the cable network determined that the original design specifications are maintained outside the point where the break occurred. This technical guarantee ensures that, upon completion of the full integration of the sections, the network will operate under the optical and performance standards designed to safeguard international data traffic within the national territory.
With the southern segment secured to the seabed and the maneuvers on the northern section well underway by specialist engineers, the operation is entering its final phase. The next phase will include the final link test and the synchronization of both parts to restore the international capacity demanded by the digital ecosystem.
It is worth noting that the regulatory body will continue to monitor the development of these engineering maneuvers that guarantee the restoration of full internet connectivity in the country.
