Engineers from the Venezuelan Scientific-Technological Hub and the Presidential Commission for Infrastructure Habitability Evaluation benefited from training on advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
This was reported by the Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Yván Gil, through his social networks.
The initiative was carried out in coordination with experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
For one week, engineers from the Venezuelan Scientific and Technological Hub and the Presidential Commission for the Habitability Evaluation of Infrastructure participate in a theoretical-practical workshop on advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
"This inter-institutional cooperation strengthens human talent and national capacities for risk prevention, structural safety and emergency response, with the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology at the service of the Venezuelan people," Gil said.
He also explained that NDT techniques assess the integrity, properties, and defects of materials without altering or damaging their functionality or physical-chemical properties, reaffirming the peaceful use of nuclear technology and ionizing radiation as fundamental pillars for the analysis of critical structures.
He said that these actions allow some principles of nuclear physics to be applied to service and prevention.
"This application of atomic science translates the principles of nuclear physics directly into the service of risk prevention, technical sovereignty and the protection of Venezuelan communities after seismic events," argued the head of science and technology.
Inter-institutional cooperation strengthens human talent and national capacities for risk prevention, structural safety and emergency response, with the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology at the service of the Venezuelan people.
It also allows for strengthening the second phase of the Presidential Commission for the Habitability Assessment of Infrastructure, which involves the evaluation, measurement, and strengthening of structures affected by earthquakes.
