With a direct impact on more than 10 families, a Type I supply store of the Venezuelan Food Producer and Distributor (Pdval) was inaugurated in the Nicolás Hurtado Barrios urban development in Calabozo, Guárico state.
The opening of the store was attended by Governor Donald Donaire, Mayor Alfreína Álvarez, and Pdval's National Purchasing Manager, Francisco Padrón.
The regional governor explained that this sales point—named Guaitoito—will supply 22 community councils with products at affordable prices. The facility covers 242 square meters and has a storage capacity of 20 tons of dry goods and 34 tons of refrigerated goods.
Donaire emphasized that the facilities will serve as a showcase for local producers, entrepreneurs, and agribusinesses to market their products bearing the Guárico seal. He also specified that the project generates 14 direct and 42 indirect jobs.
Donaire highlighted that this is the second establishment of its kind opened in the state, following the opening of the Tucupido store in May. He also announced plans to open three additional locations before the end of the year in Zaraza, Chaguaramas, and Guayabal.
"We are happy to be able to serve you and provide the utmost attention to economic matters for the people. We thank President Delcy Rodríguez for all her efforts and support for the people of Guárico," he said.
Boosting communal production
Furthermore, the governor pointed out that 95% of the items offered are of national production and reaffirmed the commitment to integrate items produced by the communes, prioritizing those harvested through initiatives such as the communal rice and corn plans.
He explained that during the past North-Summer growing season, approximately 4 hectares of rice were cultivated in conjunction with the communities of Calabozo, yielding 20 million kilos, which are currently being processed. "We hope that these products will be available very soon in this market," said the governor.
