National Assembly Deputy Jesús Farías stated that the energy agreement between Venezuela and the United States promotes the nation's economic development.
"All these problems with electricity, water, wages, employment, services in general, the deterioration of the education and health systems... This deterioration can only be stopped, as we are in fact doing, with the resources we generate from economic development, and this agreement will have a very important impact in that regard, we can clearly see it," he said in his speech at the National Assembly session.
He added that the State will guarantee the proper use of the resources generated from the binational agreement.
"Investments will arrive with their technology, their production capacities, and their managerial capabilities. This will trigger multiplier effects in the national industry, and we will ensure that this is taken full advantage of," he asserted.
In a special session, the president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, asserted that the agreement between the United States government and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela "is not yet under discussion" by the Legislative Body, because the document has not been submitted by the parties involved.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting the agreement promoted by the National Government led by President Delcy Rodríguez.
"We are going to approve this agreement to give our full support to the government of our beloved president, Delcy Rodríguez. The National Assembly is a very important force in the political landscape of our country," Farías stated.
President Delcy Rodríguez announced on Saturday in a national broadcast that the development of 17 strategic fields is planned. with "a proven potential of 65 billion barrels of oil." He also explained that, using a price of $65.000 per barrel as a reference, the country could receive $209.335 billion under the agreement.
