The National Electoral Council (CNE) closed this Friday the extension of the period granted to political organizations to make the modifications and substitutions of their candidacies for the regional and municipal elections next Sunday, November 21.
After the expiration of the period for substitution and modification of the candidacies, the political parties may continue to present their modifications between September 27 and November 11.
These extemporaneous modifications will not be reflected in the electoral card, but according to the law the votes will be credited to the candidate or substitute candidate.
This process of modification and substitution of candidacies contemplated in the electoral schedule is supported by articles 62 and 63 of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes (Lopre).
Article 62 of the Lopre emphasizes that modifications and substitutions of applications may be made up to 10 days before the election day.
