Venezuela rejects renewal of Executive Order by the US

This measure, which classifies the country as an "unusual and extraordinary threat", was extended on February 18, 2026.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, issued an official statement expressing the Bolivarian nation's categorical rejection of the renewal of the so-called "national emergency" regarding Venezuela. This measure, which labels the country an "unusual and extraordinary threat," was extended by the United States government on February 18, 2026.

This renewal continues Executive Order 13692, originally signed on March 8, 2015 by then-President Barack Obama.

The document adds that this measure lacks objective basis and real justification, relying instead on arguments far removed from truth and international law. Furthermore, Gil pointed out that the Venezuelan government has repeatedly stated that Venezuela poses no threat whatsoever to the United States or any other nation in the world.

In response to this action, Venezuela urges the US government to move towards a stage of mutual respect and frank dialogue; to assume a constructive and respectful role in conducting its international relations and to abandon unilateral approaches.
