Putin sends a message to Maduro: our unwavering solidarity with Venezuela

The past year has been quite successful for Russian-Venezuelan relations, Putin remarked.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a Christmas and New Year's greeting to his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirming Moscow's unwavering solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

In the letter, Putin highlighted that 2025 has been "quite successful for Russian-Venezuelan relations," underscoring the importance of strategic cooperation between the two countries and the strengthening of bilateral ties.

The Russian leader recalled the historic achievements in the relationship between Caracas and Moscow, such as the signing of the Strategic Cooperation Treaty, and reiterated his willingness to continue working closely together on issues on the international agenda.

Solidarity in the face of external aggression

Putin expressed his support for the Venezuelan people in the face of the attacks and robberies perpetrated against ships Venezuelans on the country's coasts by the United States, assuring that Russia will continue to stand with Venezuela in the defense of its sovereignty and right to free trade.

The message was shared by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil, who disseminated the letter on his social networks and highlighted Russia's commitment to the stability and development of Venezuela.

Russia spoke out on the matter and firmly expressed its solidarity with Venezuela, reaffirming its full support for the nation in the face of hostilities perpetrated by the Trump Administration.

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported through his Telegram channel that he held a conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in which they both reviewed the aggressions and flagrant violations of international law that have been committed in the Caribbean, where the US has carried out attacks against vessels and extrajudicial executions, in addition to the recent illicit acts of piracy.

Following this event, Lavrov reiterated once again that Russia supports Venezuela in defending the peace zone of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and international law, emphasizing that this type of aggression cannot be tolerated.

Expanding strategic alliance

The relationship between Russia and Venezuela has strengthened in areas such as energy, defense, and technological cooperation. In recent years, Moscow has supported Caracas in international forums and denounced the coercive measures imposed against the South American nation.

Putin's message reinforces the narrative of unity and cooperation between the two countries, at a time when Venezuela is seeking to expand its strategic alliances to face the economic and political challenges stemming from external aggression.
