With the purpose of the ambassadors transmitting the reality of what is happening in Venezuela to their respective governments, the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, met with the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, to explain how the electoral process is developing.
This was reported through his account on the social network X, Foreign Minister Yván Gil, who posted statements offered to the media.
"We held an extraordinary meeting with the diplomatic corps accredited in Venezuela, international organizations, ambassadors, and chargés d'affaires, where we reviewed all the progress of the electoral process underway between now and July 28, 2024, when the Venezuelan people will elect the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We held this meeting somewhat with the intention (...) that ambassadors and chargés d'affaires could directly convey to their governments the reality of what is happening in Venezuela," Gil said.
He also noted that during the meeting, the process's adherence to Venezuelan law was reviewed point by point. "We have seen how the candidate nomination process has been carried out in accordance with national law, the law, and the election regulations. We have seen how all the options presented between now and July 28 are protected," he stated.
Another aspect that was addressed during the day was international support during the presidential elections, insisting on the importance of countries like the United States and Europe transmitting information as it really happens in Venezuela.
"…We are moving forward in a peaceful process, despite the sieges and sanctions, despite President Nicolás Maduro being threatened with death, despite the campaign of lies and defamation from the groups that continue to promote violence, the electoral process is going well according to the CNE's program. We are undoubtedly going to celebrate on July 28th," he concluded.
