At least 300 people grouped in 10 international organizations and independent companions are part of the National Electoral Council (CNE) oversight program for the regional and municipal elections on Sunday, November 21, reported its head, Pedro Calzadilla.
During an interview granted this Thursday to the official Venezuelan television channel (VTV), Calzadilla said that among the 10 organizations, the European Union (EU), the Center of Electoral Experts of Latin America (Ceela), the Carter Center, the United Nations, stand out. the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity and others, refers the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).
The duty of these organizations, of various types, will be to accompany the process and submit a report to the CNE; "their functions are very clear in the regulations."
"It's not up to them to recognize the results. Their role is very defined. So we'll have a broad following of prominent figures. Everyone is subject to certain guidelines," said the rector, who emphasized that they will be "very diligent" in enforcing the established guidelines as Venezuela's electoral arbiters.
Regarding the monitoring of the campaign, he said that they have opened several inquiries to the candidates who have breached any rule, they are also making observations to the media. But, in general terms, all instances have been receptive, he said.
Likewise, the official reiterated that in the most remote areas of the country the right to vote is guaranteed with the logistical support of the Republic Plan, and that even the border areas.
The electoral campaign began on October 28 and will run until November 18, three days before the electoral event in which the 23 governorships, 335 mayors and all legislators and councilors will be renewed, for a total of 3.082 positions. .
For the total position, there are more than 70 thousand applicants, at least 66 thousand are from the oppositions and 3.082 from the Great Simón Bolívar Patriotic Pole (GPPSB).
Another activity that is under development for the elections is the Electoral Fair in about a thousand points throughout the national territory. The fair ends on November 19.
Guarantee of the best electoral system
When ratifying that more than 90% of the electoral centers of the country have already received the automated electoral machines for the Mega-elections of the 21N, Calzadilla ratified that the Venezuelan Electoral System guarantees the transparency and the popular will of the mandate that is expressed in the votes, said the state channel.
He recalled that the audits carried out were further expanded, which were 17 and now there are a total of 19, and guarantees that the political parties requested have been incorporated, which will eradicate any doubt or mistrust. "We have made an enormous effort to give even more security to those who may still have doubts about the transparency and impartiality of the CNE," he summarized.
Among these new innovations, Calzadilla said that for 45 days, ten academics from renowned universities in the country studied the Electoral System and unanimously concluded that it is the best in the world.
“For 45 days they were scrutinizing, analyzing, examining the automated system in all its components. And they were not political representatives, they were academics from our universities and they all gave a report that we are proud to say: it accredits our Electoral System with all the virtues. That must be put on the list of additional guarantees ”.
Finally, he expressed his absolute confidence that those who participate in the elections will do so until the end and recognize the results.
“We are confident and, as always, we aspire that the same 21N and on the 22nd when the results are completed, because there are many positions to choose from, all, absolutely all organizations recognize and accept the results. There is no possibility that the result we give from the CNE will defraud or betray the popular will, because that is clearly demonstrated ”.
