Venezuela and the United Kingdom strengthen communication mechanisms

Yván Gil met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United Kingdom in Venezuela, Colin Dick

Venezuela and the United Kingdom seek to maintain effective communication mechanisms, with the aim of establishing relations of equality and respect for sovereignty.

The information was released by the Chancellor of the Republic, Yvan Gil, through his account on the social network X, in which he specified that he held a meeting with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United Kingdom in Venezuela, Colin Dick, with whom he evaluated relations between the two countries, based on the sovereignty of the towns.

"On behalf of Bolivarian Diplomacy for Peace, we met with the British Chargé d'Affaires in Venezuela, Colin Dick, with whom we hope to maintain effective communication mechanisms within the framework of relations of equality and respect for sovereignty," Gil wrote.

This meeting between the two authorities of Venezuela and the United Kingdom is part of the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy implemented by the government led by President Nicolás Maduro, who seeks to strengthen the relations of the Bolivarian Republic with the world based on respect and self-determination of the towns.

New UK charge d'affaires

Colin Dick was appointed as charge d'affaires of the United Kingdom in Venezuela on August 15, replacing the diplomat Becks Buckingham, who has been in the Bolivarian Republic since 2021.

It is important to remember that Venezuela and the United Kingdom have maintained tense relations since 2018, after the non-recognition of the presidential elections of that year and the freezing of tons of gold in the Bank of England belonging to the Venezuelan State.
