The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Félix Plasencia, spoke on Saturday to highlight the speech that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, gave before the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
"Foreign Minister Lavrov's strong speech in defense of the principles that inspired the Charter of the #ONU. Upon your departure from the General Assembly, we convey greetings from the President @NicolasMaduro President Putin and we ratify our mutual commitment to defend multilateralism," Plasencia posted on his Twitter account.
In his speech, Lavrov denounced trade harassment and the illegal imposition of coercive measures against other countries. "Within the framework of the same 'rules-based order', the United States maintains the archaic trade embargo against Cuba and tries to dictate its will to the peoples of Venezuela and Nicaragua," he said.
Plasencia fulfills a work agenda at the United Nations, within the framework of the 76th General Assembly of the organization, which will run until Monday, September 27.
