The Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, reiterated this Monday Venezuela's commitment to cooperation to protect the largest plant lung, on the occasion of the Summit of the Amazon, in Brazil.
«With great expectations we arrived in the Brazilian city of Belén do Pará "where the Amazon Summit will be held, resuming cooperation to protect the green lung of the planet and guarantee a safe, peaceful Amazon for all South Americans," Gil emphasized on his Twitter account.
In the meeting called by the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, the Amazonian countries Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela participate, according to the news agency, Prensa Latina.
In addition to the Amazon States, representatives from Indonesia, France, Norway and Germany are expected, reports AVN.
In this sense, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Environment of the participating nations are preparing details for the Declaration of Belém, which will initially consist of at least 130 points and will include a plan to preserve the so-called lung of the planet.
