The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yvan Gil, said on Tuesday that Venezuela demands respect for sovereignty and self-determination and, given the hostile behavior of the governments of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, France and Italy, the national government decided to limit the number of diplomats accredited in each embassy to three.
Through its channel on TelegramThe foreign minister announced the measure and indicated that the decision must be implemented within 48 hours, which was communicated to the diplomatic representatives of the aforementioned countries.
"In response to the hostile conduct of the Governments of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, France and Italy, characterized by their support for extremist groups and their interference in internal affairs, I have communicated, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, the sovereign decision to limit the number of diplomats accredited in each embassy to three, a measure that must be complied with within 48 hours," he said.
Gil said that diplomats must have written authorization from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to travel more than 40 kilometers from Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, "guaranteeing the strict fulfillment of their functions."
"Venezuela demands respect for sovereignty and self-determination, principles established in the Charter of the United Nations, especially in relation to those subordinated to Washington's directives," the foreign minister said.
He also assured that the national government will continue to take the necessary actions, in accordance with international law, to guarantee "its stability, sovereignty and the path to peace and prosperity achieved through its own efforts."
