The governments of Venezuela and the United States agreed to resume flights under the Plan Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland Plan) for the return of Venezuelan migrants currently in the United States, President Donald Trump's special envoy, Richard Grenell, announced Thursday.
Through his account on the social network X, Grenell announced the measure and indicated that these flights will resume this Friday.
"I am pleased to announce that Venezuela has agreed to resume flights to pick up its citizens who violated U.S. immigration laws and entered the country illegally. Flights will resume on Friday," Grenell said in his post.
Following President Trump's return to the White House, the governments of both nations have held talks on various topics of interest, including immigration. Venezuela was emphatic that any transfer of its citizens must be carried out with absolute respect for their dignity and human rights, the Venezuelan government stated in a statement.
However, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, denounced Last Saturday, the US government, by revoking Chevron's license to operate in Venezuela, broke off open communications with the country.
“I was interested in these communications because I wanted to bring all the Venezuelans who are imprisoned and unjustly persecuted there simply for being migrants. Being migrants is not a crime (…), their human rights must be respected,” declared the head of state, urging an end to the persecution of migrants in that country, because “migrants have dignity, they have families, and they deserve human respect (…) The human rights of migrants must be respected!”
The president added at the time that the decision also affected planned trips for the return of Venezuelans from the U.S., which were being carried out through the aforementioned plan to reunite Venezuelan families.
Last February, the national government announced the resumption of the Return to the Homeland Plan with two flights to the US for the return of Venezuelans, the first arriving on the 10th with 190 people and the second on the 20th with 177. Third group of 242 compatriots arrived on the 24th from Mexico, including 94 men, 75 young people and 74 women.
The Return to the Homeland Plan is an initiative created in 2018 by the national government with the goal of repatriating, free of charge, those nationals who wish to return to the country from different parts of the world, having been forced to migrate as a result of illegal coercive measures and psychological warfare campaigns against the nation.
On March 10, the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, stressed that this plan is not subject to US guidelines Nor is it a temporary situation due to what imperialism says, highlighting that more than 920.000 Venezuelans have returned. He also emphasized that President Maduro's decision to halt the return of Venezuelans from the US is in response to the Trump administration's suspension of Chevron's license.

Not all that glitters is gold and goodwill. If reciprocity was desired in the expulsion and reception of Venezuelan immigrants from Uncle Sam's land, then why take a source of income and jobs out of Venezuela? The crazy Cubans in Miami had more power than the understanding between two sovereign governments on delicate matters. The same tactic was applied to the leadership of the Sioux people by the first president of the United States. God is watching!
