The Colombian president also stated that Benedetti will be tasked with normalizing relations between the two countries: "Reestablishing the institutional framework that has existed for decades so that the two sister nations can safeguard their rights, guarantee their freedoms, and ensure that Venezuela and Colombia can build wealth for both peoples."

For his part, Armando Benedetti, the new ambassador appointed by the Colombian government to Venezuela, wrote on his Twitter account that "no imaginary line will separate us as brothers again."

He also predicted working for the more than 8 Colombians who live on the border.

"President @petrogustavo, I will surprise you when we reach $10 billion in trade, when we benefit the more than 8 million Colombians living along the border. No imaginary line will ever separate us as brothers again. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TRUST!"

  1. Mr. Benedetti, thank you for accepting the representation of Colombia in Venezuela. Remember that there are Venezuelans wanted by the Venezuelan justice system that you and President Petro have to hand over to us so that we can do justice. There are more than 5 million Colombians in Venezuela and they continue to arrive, so let's be fair and help us capture the criminals who hid under the mantle of corruption of Duque and Uribe doing harm to the Venezuelan people. Democracy is maintained by each people and we cannot demand that others follow our constitution as the United States does, which as a democracy demands only what interests it. The gringos are Colombia's partners mainly because of the drugs that you provide, raising your GDP. But it is all a trap to stay in Colombia and from there attack the free countries of Latin America. DO NOT BE ACCOMPLICES, THE USA IS GENOCIDAL AGAINST THOSE WHO DO NOT LISTEN TO IT.

  2. Let's hope Petro doesn't kiss American socks off and keep saying that Monomeros is bankrupt protecting stateless Venezuelans, Guaido, Lopez, Borges, and their entire gang of genocidaires against the Venezuelan people. Mr. Petro, you say you fought for true democracy, not the one the Americans invent to maintain their Monroe Doctrine. I mean, the one they invent to maintain the policy that if you don't do what they want, then you're a danger to the US, and therefore they block it. The US military bases in Colombia must disappear as soon as possible, but no more than "ONE YEAR."
