Maduro asks the UN to condemn sanctions and guarantee vaccines to the world

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, participated this Thursday in the special session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in the framework against the pandemic, where he requested to strengthen multilateralism and reject the policies of isolationism and supremacism that drive some powers in the world.

"The world has been caught off guard by the health emergency of this pandemic, the worst in the last 100 years, which has revealed, as we all know, major vulnerabilities, not only in developing countries but also in the richest and most powerful countries on the planet, demonstrating that multilateralism, a coordinated response, solidarity, and cooperation must regain the role they once held as a global strategy," he noted.

The national president highlighted the achievements made in Venezuela in the fight against the pandemic that place it among the countries with the lowest rate of infections and mortality in the world, this despite the blocking actions and financial persecution by the United States and its European allies.

"In Venezuela, we have responded to COVID-19 marked by the gallantry and heroism of thousands of women and men who, under the united leadership of state institutions and the national government, have been able to deploy all the human and material resources available to our country to serve the people with dedication, discipline, conscience, and much love, even in the midst of criminal aggression and constant threats against Venezuela," he emphasized.

Maduro reiterated his request to the UN and the World Health Organization in order to decree the vaccines that are generated against covid-19, as goods of global benefit and reported the progress made in the search for treatments against this virus. Venezuela.

"We are in negotiations with the WHO to certify the DR-10 molecule, recently discovered in our country, which has curative properties against the COVID-19 virus," he stated, inviting the world's nations to forge "an alliance for its mass production, once it is approved."

"The unity of peoples is the most powerful weapon against the coronavirus. Our responsibility to history and future generations is to not waste this opportunity to achieve a better world for everyone," he stated.
