The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that in Venezuela the electoral processes will not be exploited to generate episodes of violence, as the country's extremist opposition did in the last elections.
"Whoever wants to participate in the elections of April 27 has to make their decision in Venezuela, not depending on anyone; they have to be loyal to the Constitution and democracy," the head of state stressed this Monday during the 70th broadcast of the fourth season of Con Maduro +.
He stressed that attempts to use the elections to revive groups of violence would not be accepted; "This mess is over!" he exclaimed.
The president said that those who participate in the elections must be loyal to the people, and in this sense, he urged opposition candidate Henrique Capriles to launch his candidacy for the next electoral processes.
Liberator Simon Bolivar Law
The dignitary urged the application of the Liberator Simón Bolívar Law to guarantee peace in the elections of April 27 and the others that will be held this year.
"The Liberator Simón Bolívar Law is a law that helps to strengthen the defense of national sovereignty, the stability of the country, democracy, and since we are going to elections, this country must never again allow under any circumstances that elections be used to create chaos, to generate violence, to harm the tranquility that Venezuela needs," he said.
In this regard, he supported the proposal made by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, that all branches of the State apply the legal instrument to guarantee peace in the electoral events, "so that the people can exercise their sovereignty and continue to advance towards a truly solid, robust democracy, as Venezuela is building," he emphasized.
