President Nicolás Maduro reiterated this Monday during his 94th Con Maduro + program that there is a national consensus in Venezuela to defend peace in the face of foreign attacks, "defending patriotic identity and condemning the warmongering actions of oligarchic extremist groups, as reflected in powerful national and international polls."
"There is a new consensus in Venezuela, one that is willing to defend the country, our identity. Because we are working people, we are not terrorists (…) The most important thing is above any political or ideological differences," he said.
The head of state emphasized that Venezuelans are also willing to defend the country's character and identity; he also condemned the adventurous and warlike approach pursued by "the most stubborn and extremist group that has already been defeated for 26 years."
He clarified that Venezuelans are not criminals or members of any Aragua Train, because "we are people of work, culture, joy, prosperity, and communities full of warmth."
Furthermore, he emphasized that 83% of Venezuelans are willing to defend national sovereignty against external aggression.
He reiterated his concern for the 6% of Venezuelans who are marked by a combination of hatred, surrender to their homeland, lack of nationalist identity, and a desire for revenge. "It's a mixture of feelings. We are studying it."
The president also asserted that more than 90% of the population believes the U.S. government wants to illegally seize Venezuela's natural resources, which is why it is constantly harassing the Bolivarian nation.
He highlighted the rejection by national opposition leaders of threats and attacks by US imperialism.
Likewise, Maduro reiterated that Venezuela is not involved in any drug trafficking-related activity, and the United States knows this. However, he persists in falsely accusing Venezuela.
He asserted that this claim has been refuted by multiple reports and international organizations, which demonstrates the cynicism behind the campaigns of aggression against Venezuela.
He also stated that the military actions undertaken by the United States government against the Bolivarian nation have given way to a new Venezuela, one that defends peace and rejects any form of aggression or attempted war.
