The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Monday the appointment of new ministers in the portfolios of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Production, Transport and Labor, and Social Security.
In a meeting with the Council of Vice Presidents and High Political Command, Maduro appointed the Venezuelan ambassador to Russia, Carlos Faría, as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The president affirmed that Faría knows very well the Bolivarian peace diplomacy, the geopolitical environment and the fight for a multipolar, multicentric world and the development of the fight against hegemony.
"Carlos Faría will fully assume the Foreign Ministry as of tomorrow," said the head of state, who thanked the outgoing Foreign Minister, Félix Plasencia, for his efforts and work. He said he will be taking on new responsibilities "very beneficial to the international development of the economy."
"Félix Plasencia is taking on tremendous responsibilities in a place that is the epicenter of future investment and economic growth for Venezuela. I will be announcing it soon," he said.
The president also appointed Representative Francisco Torrealba as the new Minister for the Social Process of Labor, whose task will be to "build the rights of the working class" and "resolve all of the problems" facing workers.
Likewise, Maduro announced the appointment of the until now Minister of Transportation, Hipólito Abreu, as the new head of the Ministry of Industries and Production.
He affirmed that Abreu had a successful experience as Minister of Transport and in the automotive sector, for which he urged him to work to develop the national industry.
"The entire industry, to secure investments, to support the growth of the entire industry. Hipólito, to connect with all the country's economic factors, as an economic driver (...) to continue the task of connecting directly with industrialists," he urged.
Maduro also announced the appointment of the president of the state airline Conviasa, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, as the new Minister of Transportation.
The head of state described Velásquez as "a success story among the successful" after having led Conviasa "to a level of development never seen before."
"He's a man with a modern, technological mindset, who combines technology, strategy, and leadership to continue the extraordinary work of Hipólito Abreu," he said.
Colombian plan to assassinate police officers
In his speech, Maduro denounced a series of plans originating from Colombia aimed at "buying off criminals in Venezuela to launch bombs and attempt to assassinate police and military personnel."
"Iván Duque from Colombia has hatched a plan and invested several million dollars to hire criminals to throw grenades, bombs, and attack police stations and military centers with bullets, just as drug trafficker Pablo Escobar did against the police in Medellín," he warned.
Maduro encouraged the Minister of Interior Relations and the Minister of Defense, Remigio Ceballos and Vladimir Padrino López, respectively, as well as the military and police forces.
"The plan to try to socially destabilize Venezuela is exactly the same (as Escobar's). Alert, police friend, police friend, military colleagues, be alert and watch," Maduro added.
He indicated that during the working day this Monday an evaluation was made for a relaunch and internal strengthening of the Quadrants of Peace to combat criminal gangs and the plans that are executed from Colombia.

Maduro also denounced the content of a book that was made public by Mark Esper, former Secretary of Defense under former US President Donald Trump, who dedicated "several pages to Venezuela" and detailed the plan that had been designed together with the opposition.
"He published a memoir while he was with Trump, and it devotes several pages to Venezuela, revealing how Donald Trump and that bastard Juan Guaidó planned to invade Venezuela and plotted to kill me and the Venezuelan political leadership. The evidence is there; he states it in detail," he noted.
In response to this, Maduro stated that he hopes the National Assembly (AN) "will open an investigation into these serious revelations by Trump's Secretary of Defense."
"They talked about an invasion of Venezuela, they talked about using mercenaries from Colombia to invade Venezuela, they talked about assassinating Nicolás Maduro and other ministers and leaders of the country," he denounced.
"There have already been other statements, like that of John Boston (Trump's former National Security Advisor). There are the revelations and the role of these far-right people calling for sanctions, calling for invasion, calling for assassinations," he asserted.
