President Nicolás Maduro presented a new characterization of what is happening in Venezuela after knowing the results of the June 29 elections that re-elected him as Head of State.
“We are facing a cyber-fascist and criminal coup d'état,” Maduro said at the outset during the central event celebrating the 87 years of creation of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), held this Sunday in the spaces of the Ministry of Defense.
“An imperialist coup d'état, which has fascist characteristics, full of hatred against the institutions,” concluded the President who praised the “exemplary conduct” exhibited by the GNB when taking to the streets “to defend this people and their right.” to La Paz.”
Maduro explained that he described the reported coup as “cyber-fascist” “because we are receiving the cyber attack on all social networks to fill Venezuela with hate and divide.” And as for the adjective fascist, “because it is its main characteristic: hatred, violence, irrationality; and criminal because he has had a significant group of criminals trained abroad, paid and bought here to attack hospitals, schools, universities, protection modules.”
The president took advantage of the moment to present condolences to relatives of two GNB agents murdered in the latest acts of violence that occurred after a sector of the opposition did not know the results offered by the CNE in the early hours of July 29.
In his opening words, Maduro congratulated the GNB “because you have been and are the backbone of La Paz and the defense of the constitutional rights of the people.”
He said that we are going through a time when the fight is for Peace. “To say peace is to say the future, to say peace is to say the right to independence, to self-determination.” It was there when he remembered what was said last June 24 in the Campo de Carabobo on the occasion of the anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo. “This baton that I have in my hands will continue in the hands of patriots; This baton will never fall into the hands of traitors, oligarchs, fascists, never, I swear to you,” said the Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces. Maduro recalled that it was the then president Hugo Chávez who gave constitutional status to the GNB and gave it Bolivarian character. “It was not only going to be the National Guard, but the National Guard of Bolívar, for Bolívar, with Bolívar. A National Guard at the service of a people, of a country,” commented the President.
Decorations for wounded
At the event, the President awarded a decoration to several GNB officials who were injured during the acts of violence carried out by hooded individuals, allegedly members of the so-called “Comanditos” of Vente Venezuela, the party of María Corina Machado.
One of those decorated was Third Sergeant Major Anderson José Duque Lucena, assigned to Detachment 122 GNB-Lara. Sergeant 1 Carlos Olivero Machado, assigned to the 43rd Zone Command of the Capital District, also told how he was injured. “We were wounded defending kilometer 0 of the Caracas-Los Teques Pan-American Highway; I have an injury to my fibula and a fissure,” he said.
At the anniversary event of the GNB there were also promotions to the immediate higher rank of GNB agents, including ministers Ramón Velásquez Araguayan (Transport) and Jorge Eliezer Márquez Monsalve (Electric Energy).
