This Thursday, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, presented to the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country the evidence that shows fraud in the primary event held last Sunday by a sector of the opposition.
From the Casa Amarilla, headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Caracas, the parliamentarian emphasized that the National Electoral Council (CNE) has "the exclusive prerogative of holding electoral events in Venezuela" and guaranteeing their transparency, even in internal processes of political organizations.
"The Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela establishes that the CNE is the governing body for organizing and advising any electoral event," said Rodriguez.
They denied CNE competition in the primary
The deputy said that the CNE contest was denied on two occasions by the opposition sector that held the primary event last Sunday.
In this regard, he expressed that the omission of the participation of the electoral entity is due to the fact that fraud was already brewing.
Likewise, Rodríguez reminded the ambassadors and chargé d'affaires from different countries present of the mechanisms to guarantee electoral transparency offered by the electoral power, which were omitted in the primary event that has also been denounced for a series of irregularities such as identity theft of Venezuelans and inconsistent figures regarding voter participation.
"I can say that Venezuela's electoral system is one of the most reliable, robust and transparent," said Rodriguez.
Furthermore, the head of the Delegation of the Government of Venezuela in the dialogue process, recalled that the fourth point of the agreement signed in Barbados It states that "the parties will ensure that the electoral conditions referred to in this agreement are equally applicable to the rest of the electoral processes that must be developed," he said.
Complaints and evidence of fraud
Among the irregularities evidenced in the primary event, Rodríguez explained to the diplomats that people did not know the location of the electoral centers that corresponded to them.
Likewise, he recalled the resignations of candidates, four regional presidents and the Vice President of the Primary Commission.
Another aspect that stood out was the lack of competitiveness of the event, since precisely the other two candidates with the possibility of contesting the election resigned.
Among the complaints expressed by Rodríguez he said that the company Súmate, founded by María Corina Machado, kidnapped the Primary Commission.
Jorge Rodríguez emphasized that Sunday's event cannot be called an election because there is no such thing if there is no audited and verified electoral material, established voting centers, audited voting notebooks, and no minimally reliable results can be presented.
After analyzing the installed capacity, he assured that a maximum of 868.000 people could vote, since a quarter of the voting stations were not installed.
Furthermore, he stated that the results of the event cannot be verified because its organizers burned the notebooks.
"They burned them because there is an electoral crime there, clear, frank, flagrant," said Rodriguez.
In contrast, Rodríguez indicated that the Government assured peace in the country on Sunday so that whoever wanted to go out to vote could do so.
"We have said that the Carter Center should come, that a technical commission from the European Union should come so that together with the National Electoral Council and the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice they can come and count the ballots, and that the audit be carried out," said the deputy after presenting these and other points that show the fraud of the primary event before the diplomatic representatives accredited in the country.
