This Friday the Expanded Working Group of the Sao Paulo Forum, in Caracas, with the aim of continuing to consolidate the strategic plan that seeks to move forward together to concretize the sovereignty of our America, emphasized Adán Chávez, Vice President of International Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, when opening the activity (PSUV).
In the Work tables of the Sao Paulo Forum, installed at the headquarters of the International University of Communications, located in Caracas, representatives of left-wing parties from countries on five continents participate.
In his opening remarks, Adán Chávez recalled Commander Hugo Chávez's call to action: fight, battle, and victory. "That's what drives us," he added.
Thank you for once again choosing Venezuela, Caracas, for a meeting like this, the Sao Paulo Forum. Here are the samples of the struggles and achievements », he emphasized.
He commented that "over the past five years, the Sao Paulo Forum has demonstrated how it works on a strategic plan to advance together on this path that seeks to achieve sovereignty in our America."
In this regard, he noted that "here we continue to strengthen ties of friendship and collaborative work. This meeting demonstrates some of this progress."
The PSUV's vice president for international affairs emphasized that "there are political advances that are in some way a product of the Sao Paulo Forum, and the enemy knows this, which is why we receive so many attacks."
"They haven't stopped us, nor will they be able to stop us. We will continue forward and win. Welcome, we will have two days of hard work and debate, with fruitful agreements for the strategic plan that we continue to strengthen," Chávez emphasized.
Venezuela listens to the people
For his part, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, thanked the representatives of the countries present on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro for their presence.
"We appreciate that Caracas has been considered for this meeting, and it has a lot to do with the space for the people," he said.
"I wish some leaders would understand the importance of understanding the people," Cabello said.
He recalled the FTAA proposal to enslave the people, "and our leaders at the Mar del Plata Summit didn't allow it. The people prevailed, and they sent the FTAA packing."
He stressed that being together in Caracas, after spending difficult years with the pandemic, is of the utmost importance.
He also pointed out that the venue where they were meeting, the IUCOM, "was the headquarters of not just any media outlet; the IUCOM headquarters was the Fourth Estate. Media outlets that blackmailed and censored presidents."
"Today this is adorned with people, with freedom," he emphasized.
For Cabello, "this meeting shows us the importance of remaining united in a single blockade. Venezuela is the home of the Sao Paulo Forum; we are here to welcome you always, with love and respect; we have no qualms."
This forum, said the PSUV's First Vice President, "meets to advance, while they (the right) meet to attack and destroy. Everyone knows how much campaigning they've done against each country. The terrible blockade against Cuba, China, Russia, Nicaragua, every day, but for them and the big corporations, we're the bad guys."
"Our sovereignty is not for sale, nor for rent," he added.
We'll repeat it, Cabello emphasized, gentlemen of the right: "You haven't been able to defeat us, either by fair means or foul."
"We are committed to staying united, comrades," he said.
We continue in the fight
Mónica Valente, secretary of the Sao Paulo Forum and present at the start of the working groups, stated that "the map of the Americas is almost entirely red, and that is the struggle of our countries, and even more so of the people of President Nicolás Maduro, who continue to build a socialist model."
He explained that progressive movements in the Americas have "managed to alter the balance of power in many of our countries and win important elections."
Despite gaining ground, Valente said, "it hasn't been easy for our social and popular movements. We haven't emerged from the pandemic, from hunger, from the rise of poverty. But as a result of this struggle of resistance, we've gained ground, which shows us that the fight continues. It's tough, but we're better off than we were years ago. But let's not fool ourselves: we have to keep fighting and confront this imperial and capitalist model," he said.
He also stated that parallel to the meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum in Caracas, a meeting of the extreme right is taking place in Mexico.
"Today, the Far Right Forum is meeting in Mexico, and this is the second time they've held a meeting during a meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum's Working Group," he explained.
He added that "they know the importance of the Sao Paulo Forum, which is why they are meeting simultaneously, and it is a signal to continue fighting and moving forward."
Finally, Mónica Valente emphasized the importance of being together in Caracas. "There would be no other place more important than Venezuela, Caracas, and the International University of Communications."
Sao Paulo Forum in Caracas
The main objective of the Sao Paulo Forum meeting in Caracas is to develop for two days, a set of concrete actions to continue deepening the rights and demands of the peoples of the world and to confront North American imperialism.
The signing of the Cooperation Protocol between the International University of Communications and the São Paulo Forum is planned, as part of the work agenda that will be carried out on both days. The information was released at the XXVI Seminar of Political Parties and a New Society, held in Mexico.
It should be remembered that last September, Venezuela participated in the XXVI Seminar of Political Parties and a New Society, organized by the Mexican Labor Party.
