Spain will not recognise former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia as president of Venezuela, so as not to break European unity.
This was stated on Wednesday by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, at a press conference in New York for the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), reported AVN.
He reiterated his rhetoric regarding the minutes of the July 28 election and exerted international pressure.
"We will see later, but the important thing is that the government will not undermine European unity," he said.
Earlier this month, Spain granted political asylum to Gonzalez Urrutia and left the country after negotiations with the Venezuelan government, which were requested by the opposition.
In Spain, González Urrutia has violated the asylum agreements and other commitments made during the negotiations.
In recent days, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, revealed one of the documents signed by the opponent in which recognizes the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which verified the victory of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
