The elections of the National Assembly (AN) should be held this year 2020 and the political dialogue for the peace and stability of the nation should continue, said the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, AVN reported on its web portal.
In telephone contact with the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, this Saturday, after the meeting of the Presidential Commission for the prevention and combat of Covid-19, at the Miraflores Palace, Caracas, the National President welcomed the appointment of the new rectors of the National Electoral Council (CNE) by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to guarantee that the country continues to advance in the renewal of its electoral schedule.
"Yesterday, the Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ made a decision within the framework of the Constitution by verifying the impossibility on the part of the National Assembly to designate the CNE authorities, by ratifying the existence of a legislative omission."
The Head of State emphasized that the new rectors are people with a great knowledge of the institutional life of the country who come to give a new dynamism to the entire electoral process and to organize the elections for a new National Assembly.
"Venezuela is going to have the possibility to vote and sovereignly elect a new National Assembly and in 2021 there should be elections for governors, governors, mayors, and mayors," he said.
He noted that for this electoral process, a national dialogue table was established between representatives of the national government and representatives of the Venezuelan opposition, "which has worked very well, with the political parties and a significant portion of the Venezuelan opposition leaders," he said.
He called on the Venezuelan people to support the electoral path despite the refusal by some sectors of the far right, who maintain a line of submission to the orders of the United States government, to withdraw from the electoral path and take the insurrectionary, guarimbero, and mercenary path. "The electoral path, the peaceful path, the path of the popular vote, which is Venezuela's path. All the conditions are in place!" he stated.
He ratified the importance of maintaining political dialogue to resolve disputes and protect the peace and stability of the nation.
