As he warned on Thursday, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, made public some audios and details of the recording of the meeting held with the extreme right opposition leader, Edmundo González, after the denial was not made on his part regarding alleged coercion by the Venezuelan authorities.
"We hope for two things: that this will put an end to the gossip and that you will comply with what you signed here, sir," he said. Rodriguez addressing Gonzalez Urrutia, After presenting some of the audio recordings which, in his opinion, reveal the "notable desperation of González Urrutia to flee the country, on the same day that we met at the Spanish embassy," the head of the Venezuelan parliament stressed.
He also said that these audios "make it clear that the climate of the negotiation was not one of coercion or force. Edmundo González Urrutia cannot deny his own words," he insisted.
On the other hand, Jorge Rodríguez also clarified that the letter sent by González Urrutia was prepared after a meeting held between the leader's interlocutors and representatives of the Venezuelan government.
"He sought us out, there were no measures of any kind, as foreign press agencies and extremist sectors that operate in Venezuela have pointed out, there was no situation in which he felt violated, on the contrary, he sought us out to talk," said the head of the Venezuelan parliament.
He also stressed that the conversations were not only by phone, but also in person, as they managed to meet at the Spanish embassy in Venezuela. "The Spanish ambassador himself is an exceptional witness to this," he added.
«He sent his lawyer to say that he did not sign any document, but there is a video, we have it… and the lawyer said that because of the knife fight that the right-wing sectors have, it was leaked onto portals that clearly pay tribute to the Venezuelan opposition, the manuscript of the letter was leaked, without signatures, but we know who posted the letter on the portals with the objective of generating more disputes in the extreme right-wing sectors, because in addition to the issue of jealousy, of who orders whom and they release the document and send the lawyer to say that this document does not exist, forcing us to publish it. If he had remained silent or had recognized that a document does exist, he would have been forced to maintain the reserve or the protection,» he detailed.
Rodríguez said that in the videos released on Thursday, it has been shown that in that meeting, the two spokesmen established "the backbone of the communication scheme of the meeting. Confession of the parties."
Rodriguez insisted that if they had admitted the existence of that document, "we would have maintained the confidentiality, which was something that President Maduro strongly demanded of us. We complied."
In another of the audios presented by Rodríguez, the intervention of the interlocutor who served as a witness in the negotiation with Edmundo González Urrutia is evident, where he says that the former opposition candidate is clear that he cannot and should not name or proclaim a parallel government from exile.
Second warning
Rodríguez issued a new warning: he assured that he will reveal a second document containing the details of the requests made by González Urrutia, which he claims refer to constitutional rights related to the protection of his property, residences and vehicles and those of his loved ones. "There is nothing related to persons deprived of liberty" - said the head of parliament.
"There is a second document in my possession, signed by me and signed as received by González Urrutia," he said.
"If they continue to violate the truth, we will have no choice but to publish it. I have that document, do not force me to publish it. If you reject this statement, I will publish the second document tomorrow," he insisted.
