Authorities of the National Electoral Council received the diplomatic representatives accredited in Venezuela this Wednesday.
The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, participated in the meeting, transmitted to the 107 diplomatic missions abroad, who pointed out that the intention of this meeting is to provide first-hand information to their respective governments about the progress of the Venezuelan electoral process. , to be held next July 28.
He indicated that these diplomatic representatives "also serve as spokespersons for the progress of the electoral process."
The objective, he said, "is that they can transmit to their governments, to their capitals, the truth about Venezuela, the truth about our electoral system, because Venezuela is a country under siege, it is a country under attack, whose electoral system is always being vilified."
He said that, despite the fact that everyone has seen that it works perfectly, the Venezuelan electoral system "is attacked by the international media."
"The job of diplomats is precisely to convey what is happening, beyond what is reported by agencies and media outlets, which are the ones that end up setting the tone."
Gil said, "We have an electoral system that we are very proud of, because it allows us to obtain a reflection of the will of the people," which is something that "motivates us to share in order to interact with the world."
Oversight plan
For this reason, he indicated, Venezuela is currently not only receiving observers, but Venezuelan oversight offices are deployed in different electoral processes around the world.
"This community of electoral experts is increasingly active, more dynamic, and is exchanging more and more information," he said.
Following the meeting on Wednesday, the foreign minister said that all those present had the opportunity "to see how the electoral system works, as well as to see and hear first-hand the reality of Venezuela."
On Monday, the CNE board dismissed the delegation of the European Union Exploratory Mission (EU). On Tuesday, he received the Carter Center exploratory commission, as an international observer in the elections.
Likewise, last week, the CNE signed agreements for the international oversight process with the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (Ceela) and the Strategic Thinking Observatory for Regional Integration.
