This Wednesday the National Electoral Council (CNE) and the Latin American Council of Electoral Experts (Ceela) signed an agreement to formalize the deployment of a mission in the regional and municipal elections to be held on November 21.
"It is a source of joy and peace to feel supported by you (Ceela), that your wisdom and experience guide us in this complex, difficult, and important task of conducting an electoral process, which in Venezuela is of enormous significance," said Pedro Calzadilla, president of the electoral body.
He warned that the election taking place on November 21st is not just any election, because "it is part of a supreme effort by Venezuelan society, authorities, and social and political organizations to reach a set of agreements and understandings to advance political stabilization and peace in the country."
"We could say that they are regional and municipal and that they are less relevant, but due to their significance, relevance, and context, they have national weight," Calzadilla stated, affirming that what happens "on November 21 in Venezuela will determine the future of our country and of Latin America."
For his part, Nicanor Moscoso, president of Ceela, said that they have been accompanying the audits of the electronic voting system electronically and in person, and will participate in all stages of the process.
He emphasized that Ceela, an independent organization that has participated in electoral processes in various countries in the region regardless of the political conditions, "has never received nor will ever receive external instructions."
