A total of 20.733.941 male and female voters make up the Preliminary Electoral Registry (REP) which will be available for consultation and verification on the website of the National Electoral Council (CNE) as of this August 8, for the purposes of possible challenges, which will be held from August 9 to 23, according to the provisions of the Electoral Schedule.
This was reported by the head of the electoral body, Indira Alfonzo Izaguirre, who said that from the CNE "we continue in permanent session and we inform the Venezuelan people of the activities that we have developed with a view to the election of the National Assembly to be held on December 6.
The president of the CNE recalled that within the electoral schedule, the generation phase of the REP is currently in process, “whose cut-off was made on July 29 at the end of the extension of the Special Day of Registration and Updating of the Electoral Registry, in consideration to the radical quarantine situation in some areas of the country, "he explained.
In the same way, Alfonzo indicated that this registry has 251.398 new voters, also carrying out a deep purification of the deceased, as part of the Electoral Power's policy of maintaining a continuous and permanent review process to honest this data.
"It is important to point out that we have 483.896 people with disabilities registered, which will help us develop policies to assist this sector of the population at the time of voting," he said.
Constant and meaningful participation
Regarding citizen participation in the Special Electoral Registration Day, Alfonzo confirmed that "we must recognize and applaud the participation in the development of that day, for its consistency and for how significant it was throughout the territory, especially of that youth with a democratic vocation, who want to participate in the exercise that will take place on December 6, and especially that youth who will exercise their right to vote for the first time," he said.
Likewise, Alfonzo highlighted "civic compliance with the biosanitary standards established by the State and how we have suggested to interact with our constituents who come to our facilities. We believe that we are at a time when citizen awareness has become present by complying with the standards."
Challenges
Regarding the challenge process that will begin this Sunday, August 9, the president of the CNE indicated that on the website of the National Electoral Council www.cne.gob.ve a form will be located to carry out this process online, sending the data to a institutional mail indicated in the form. The download option will also be available for physical filling and delivery at the various offices of the CNE nationwide.
Alfonzo was emphatic in clarifying that "the challenges are only those indicated in the form, it is not possible to make new registrations or updates," she added.
Regarding the resignation of the principal rector of the CNE, Rafael Simón Jiménez, the president of the electoral body indicated that it is a decision accepted and respected by the institution, adding that "a parliamentary election is being held that requires that sincerity, coherence, articulation and respect for the arbitration condition that was imposed on us in that ruling by the TSJ."
UNETI offers its support to the Electoral Power
As part of the inter-institutional links carried out by the National Electoral Council (CNE), authorities of the National Experimental University of Telecommunications and Information Technology (UNETI), held a meeting with the principal rector of the electoral body, Indira Alfonzo Izaguirre, in which They expressed the willingness of that house of studies to support the parliamentary elections of next December 6.
The president of the electoral body affirmed that “the clamor of the vote is in the street, the path of democracy, of respect for its institutions. You are at this moment the sounding board, not only in the academic world, but of what the world of technology also means, and of the new elements and tools that are used in the economy and in finance ”, he said.
Meanwhile, the rector of UNETI, Carlos Berbeci, pointed out that "from our University we are at your service, our teachers, our students and our desire to continue building together for the country."
