The path that can lead us in a safer, more peaceful and stable way to the solution of the very serious crisis we are experiencing is that of an agreement of democratic coexistence between all of us or between a good part of the political factors in conflict within our country. This means that the various biases must recognize each other, and accept that each one exists and that it has the right to exist within the framework of the Constitution. Accept that each one has the right to make politics under fair conditions, and to seek the support of the citizens. So if an organized political trend reaches or maintains any position of power, it is not because the Armed Forces, or the Government of the United States or the Government of Russia, decide, but because it is the will of the majority of the population of Venezuela. , expressed in free and fair elections.
A democratic coexistence agreement has among its first tasks today to constitute, by consensus, a new National Electoral Council, which offers confidence to all citizens, and which develops the parliamentary elections scheduled for this year. Counting for this with observers from international organizations accepted by the bias in dispute, such as Celac, the United Nations or the European Union, among others. And in a legal framework of respect for the principle of proportional representation, which protects minorities.
From there, a new stage of stabilization and re-institutionalization of the country could begin, with minimal economic consensus that would allow for far-reaching initiatives such as refinancing public debt and stimulating investment. As well as the negotiation towards the lifting of sanctions by the United States Government.
The path of democratic coexistence is not a highway and conditions may not be optimal from the beginning, but it is a path that can be consolidated. We must give it a try. Because the other routes on the horizon all involve violence, destruction, suffering and backwardness for the people of Venezuela. We don't deserve that. Will the leaders of the different political factors be able to take up the challenge and build the path to democratic coexistence? Hopefully it will be like that.
