Boric and right digestion

Gabriel Boric has been forced to dedicate several sentences to show that he is not a Chavista. We know he is not. You don't need to clarify it. In addition, it is noticeable from afar that he is not a Chavista. It can't be, and we don't want it to be.

It's not your fault. This need for ideological clarifications that do not clarify or correspond to the Chilean political debate, is the fault of the inertia and intellectual laziness of journalists who unfortunately have prominence and who, instead of enriching the information, dedicate themselves to throwing the same shell of banana that they put on all the new faces of politics: the assessment of the Bolivarian Revolution.

Of course they do not use that denomination in their trap. They ask directly about Nicolás Maduro, without calling him President, in order to add from the beginning the results of the intense global campaign that the United States undertook to attack the Venezuelan people and their rebellious spirit of independence.

If the answer is evasive, the interviewee will become the respondent. He will have to endure a campaign of several months against him. If he said that Venezuela has the right to defend its independence and sovereignty, the campaign would brand him an accomplice of the alleged human rights violations reported by NGOs paid by the US.

That journalism will only feel temporarily disarmed if the person being interviewed speaks ill of the Venezuelan experience. A failure, says Boric, proven by the diaspora. A failure like the Chinese, the Greek, the Hungarian, the Spanish, the Mexican, the Honduran, the Dominican, the Salvadoran, the Colombian and so many other countries, surely all Chavistas.

Hugo Chávez sometimes defined himself as a Allende supporter. From the Chilean perspective, I imagine that the scope of such a definition can be discussed, but from the Chavista perspective, our need to value all the experiences of democratic and progressive struggle of the peoples of the world and, especially, of our continent, is totally understandable. To be an Allende supporter is to support a libertarian socialist ideal of an unredeemed Chile.

I wish Boric every success, but he must remember that the right does not forgive those who are not from the right, even if they are not Chavistas. Those who wanted to be accepted by the right and forgot about their towns, no matter how flirtatious they have been with the right. The right swallowed or vomited them, without ever digesting them.
